Clonakilty

This design is for a home in Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland. The garden steps down from the house, with space to cook and eat beneath a pergola and a lower terrace for sitting around the fire.

Wide steps link the different levels. Planting fills the slopes beside them and comes right up to the seating, with stone walls holding the terraces. From the house, you look out over the whole garden; down by the fire, you’re surrounded by it.
